They arrived with curiosity, drive, and a sense of possibility 鈥� and now Hamilton鈥檚 Class of 2025 is stepping boldly into what鈥檚 next, with graduation canes in hand and valuable lessons learned. What shaped them during their four years on College Hill? Which moments, mentors, and courses stand out?

The Levitt Center Justice Lab has received a $350,000 grant from the Winston Foundation. The funds will support the further development of this lab, a semester-long program in which students engage with public policy and intern within the local community.

Hamilton's Arthur Levitt Public Affairs Center has released a comprehensive report titled 鈥淵outh Gun Violence in Utica, New York: Causes, Context, and Prevention.鈥� This report is the culmination of the Center鈥檚 Fall 2024 Justice Lab, an interdisciplinary initiative involving 16 students across four integrated courses led by four 娇色导航faculty members.

娇色导航 Professor of Economics Erol Balkan and Professor of Sociology Stephen Ellingson, in collaboration with On Point for College, surveyed more than 200 members of the Myanmar, Bosnian, and Somalian communities in Utica, N.Y., in 2024 to ascertain the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. Specifically, they examined the effects on refugee physical well-being, employment and finances, housing stability, youth education, and emotional well-being.

National and regional news organizations regularly interview 娇色导航faculty, staff, alumni, and students for their expertise and perspectives on current events, and to feature programs and activities on campus. December鈥檚 news topics included varied subjects from a Senate confirmation to a new curatorial studies initiative.

At 娇色导航, learning transcends geographic boundaries and traditional methods, providing students with unique and memorable experiences that bring their material to life.

At Hamilton, active citizenship is demonstrated in many ways. We talked to several students and young alumni who explain how they discovered an interest at 娇色导航that led them to take action to create social change, and have a positive impact on society.

娇色导航students who conducted grant-funded research with faculty this summer showed off the results of their work at a recent poster session.

娇色导航鈥檚 Levitt Center is ground zero for research opportunities on campus. Aimed at encouraging students to combine their academic ambition with practical, hands-on, research, the Levitt Research Fellows Program is a great opportunity for students to dive deeper into their interests. Students are awarded a research grant and collaborate closely with a faculty advisor for up to 10 weeks, then prepare a presentation and submit a paper in the fall.

As part of the Levitt Center鈥檚 Community Impact Summer Fellowship Program, a cohort of 娇色导航students have been collaborating with local organizations focused on social and public policy across Oneida County. We chatted with a few of these students who spent the summer combining their academic pursuits with practical and hands-on skills.
