Madeline Carlman 鈥�19 has been awarded the college鈥檚 Bristol Fellowship for her project 鈥淐reating Community in Book Places.鈥� She鈥檒l examine how book places such as libraries, book shops, book clubs, and book fairs work to create community.

Samantha D'Angelo 鈥�21 has been awarded a Coccia Foundation Scholarship for study in Italy. She is a physics major and Italian and history minor who plans to pursue her passions for Italian language and culture by studying in Taormina, Sicily, through the API Babilonia Institute Program.

Team Jillings, Uribe, Fowy was the overall winner of the 2019 HamTrek triathlon with a time of 58:06.48 on May 3. Swim team member Jake Fowy 鈥�19 swam 21 lengths in the pool, Cross Country team member Anaidys 'Andy' Uribe 鈥�19 handled the running portion, and Director of Outdoor Leadership Andrew Jillings biked for the winners.

Jon Gerstein 鈥�21 plans to go into politics after college and may have just gotten a head start on that career. Gerstein was elected president of the College Democrats of NY (CDNY) at the organization鈥檚 annual convention in April.

Catherine Ryczek '21 has been named a Barry M. Goldwater Scholar for the 2019-20 academic year. She is among 496 undergraduate sophomores and juniors from across the U.S. to receive the Goldwater, the premier national undergraduate award in the fields of mathematics, the natural sciences and engineering.

Alexandra (Allie) Gale 鈥�19 has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to Brazil. A world politics major with a focus in Latin America, Gale was a Rotary Youth Exchange student in Joao Pinheiro, in the state of Minas Gerais, Brazil, in 2014-15.

Maximiliano Hernandez-Zapata 鈥�19 is only 22 but he鈥檚 old-school when it comes to photography. His passion for analog photography has paid off for him as the recipient of the College鈥檚 Bristol Fellowship for his project 鈥淧reservation or Revival: Exploring Contemporary Analog Photography.鈥�

Willa Mihalyi-Koch 鈥�19 and Hannah Zucker '15 have been awarded National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships. This is a highly competitive, prestigious, nationally recognized fellowship that is awarded to just under 2000 students in the natural and social sciences and engineering.

Hamilton鈥檚 Model UN team has attended three conferences this semester and has won awards at each. The team went to North American Model United Nations Conference hosted by University of Toronto (NAMUN), Princeton Diplomatic Invitational hosted by Princeton University (PDI), and &MUN hosted by The College of William and Mary.

Molly Clark 鈥�19, a public policy major and Hispanic studies minor, has been awarded a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to South Korea.
