Academic achievement prizes, prize scholarships and other recognition of student accomplishments were announced at Hamilton鈥檚 67th annual Class & Charter Day convocation on Monday, May 7, in the Chapel. Among the top prizes, Jenny Soonthornrangsan 鈥�19 was awarded the Milton F. Fillius Jr. /Joseph Drown Prize Scholarship, and Marquis Palmer 鈥�18 received the James Soper Merrill Prize.

娇色导航鈥檚 Class & Charter Day celebration, an annual convocation recognizing student and faculty excellence during the preceding academic year, will take place on Monday, May 7, at 4:15 p.m., in the Chapel.

The annual Dean鈥檚 Exceptional Service Awards and Scholarly Achievement awards were awarded to Rob Hopkins, Karen Brewer, Tina Hall, Dan Chambliss, Sall Cockburn, John McEnroe, and Xavier Tubau.

Students started creating Hamilton鈥檚 community mosaic mural on Jan. 27 and 28 with the help of Boston artist Josh Winer. The mosaic is being built to illustrate inclusivity and community.

娇色导航鈥檚 highest awards for teaching were presented to Katheryn Doran, Kira Jumet, Andrea Townsend, Cindy Domack, and Colette Gilligan.

Team Varga was the overall winner of the 2018 HamTrek triathlon with a time of 59:02.39, Men鈥檚 swimming and diving team member Chris Klein 鈥�18 was the male individual winner with a time of 1:01:02.82, and Assistant Professor of Geosciences Cat Beck was the top female individual at 01:09:10.29.

Marquis Palmer 鈥�18 will explore 鈥淭he Inner-World of Skateboarding Communities鈥� in his Watson fellowship. Palmer, recently elected to Phi Beta Kappa, also received a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship to the Czech Republic.

鈥淗ow I became an atheist,鈥� a poem by Heidi Wong 鈥�20 has been announced as the winner of the Button Poetry 2018 Short Form Contest.

鈥淜now thyself鈥� is the motto that guides 娇色导航students, and Joe Pucci 鈥�18 is living up to that in his Bristol Fellowship, 鈥淰alues, Methodologies and Locales in Learning Environments: An Inquiry Into Knowing Thyself.鈥�

Working with Hamilton鈥檚 Sustainability Coordinators, more than 40 students planted 500 seedlings on 3-acres of the old golf course off Campus Road on April 15.
